Mat Training: Foundations of Pilates Instruction

The Pilates Mat Training is set for two weekends: August 15-17 and September 19-21 from 1-4pm. This scheduling allows participants to engage fully without overwhelming their busy lives.

During the mat training, you will explore the history and principles of Pilates while learning essential techniques. You will practice and learn to teach Joseph Pilates’ original mat work, and then we'll move on to the various adaptations using equipment such as small ball, large ball, and TheraBand.

The mat module includes 50 hours of observation, in which you'll learn how to interpret alignment, movement patterns and compensations in real bodies. The blend of hands-on techniques and theoretical knowledge will prepare you to teach Pilates safely and effectively, as well as focus on injury prevention for yourself and your future clients.

Equipment Training: Expanding Skills with Pilates Reformer & Chair

Lacey also offers an equipment training module focused on the Reformer and chair. Working with equipment allows for an expanded range of resistance and support. This training introduces the history of Joseph Pilates' original series, then moves on to the evolution of how these two Pilates tools are used.

Reformer training will be offered October 17-19 from 1-4pm, and Chair will be offered November 15 from 1-4pm. The Reformer module includes 100 hours of observation and Chair includes 25 hours. Each training can be taken on its own to focus on specific pieces of equipment. The prerequisite to join in either of these trainings is a previous Mat Pilates training.

Comprehensive Training on Anatomy and Injury Prevention

To be a successful Pilates instructor, a solid understanding of anatomy is key. In Lacey's training, you will get one-on-one training on how different muscles activate, and learn how to adapt the Pilates exercises to different body types and abilities. Lacey's emphasis on injury prevention and proper alignment ensures that you will be able to accommodate a wide range of clients—from those rehabilitating an injury to fitness enthusiasts looking to improve their well-being.

Lacey draws on her formal training in kinesiology along with her Pilates expertise, offering a unique approach. She'll cover real-life strategies for avoiding injury, reinforcing that Pilates is about making smart and safe movement choices. Teaching you how to understand your body is the first step to helping others with theirs.
